The 2017 STEAMWORKS Season
2017 STEAMworks Season – Launching into FRC
The 2017 STEAMworks season marked the exciting debut of Team 6528 Terror Bytes as we took our first steps into the world of FIRST Robotics Competition. Competing at both the Woodhaven and Livonia District events, our rookie squad tackled a steampunk-inspired game that challenged alliances to deliver gears to activate airships, launch fuel into boilers, and prepare robots for takeoff during the final climb. Guided by Coach Trent Begeman and powered by passion, innovation, and the engineering design process, we built and iterated our very first competition robot—learning, growing, and evolving every step of the way. Our hard work paid off at the Woodhaven District, where we proudly earned the Rookie Inspiration Award sponsored by National Instruments—our program’s first major FRC award. It was a strong start for the Terror Bytes, and a signal that the future is bright for STEM and robotics in the Gibraltar School District.
